Green tea steam cake
Since I got requests from a few friends for the green tea stream cake, I decide to write on my blog so that I can share with more people. These steam cake is very easy, and is kind of healthy so I usually make them when we run out of bread for breakfast (without whipping cream and added sugar of course). Here is the recipe:
- 2 eggs
- 2 Tbs grape seed oil ( or any neutral oil like sunflower oil, canola oil…)
- 2 Tbs honey
- 1/3 C yogurt ( I usually use Trader Joe’s whole milk vanilla yogurt, or any kind of yogurt would work)
- 2 TBS milk
- 2 TBS sugar
- 1 C all-purpose flour
- 2 TBS baking powder
- 2 TBS macha green tea powder
- whipping cream ( optional- this is when you make them into dessert)
Arrange 6 glass ramekins into a pan in one layer ( 8 oz ramekin), pour water into the pan until it reach halfway of the ramekins. Don’t let the water drop inside the ramekins. Take the ramekins out of the pan, cover the pan with lid and bring the water to a boil. Place cup cake liner in the ramekins, set aside.
In the mean time, mix together eggs, oil, honey, yogurt, milk, sugar until well combine. Mix four, baking power, green tea powder together in another bowl and sift the flour mixture into the egg mixture. Mix until just combined.
Use an ice cream scoop to divide the batter into the lined ramekins equally. Place the ramekins into the pan. Use a kitchen cloth to cover the lid so that the steam doesn’t wet the cake while steaming. Steam the cake in medium heat for about 12 minutes. Check with a toothpick to see if it comes out clean. Don’t over cook. When done, take the ramekins out and place in a cooling rack. Green tea steam cake is good when it’s still a little warm. Enjoy!
Hope you try to make these delicious steam cake.
