Crunchy pork &corn balls



I hardly make fried food at home, however, these pork & corn balls are one of the exception. They have crunchy shells, but moist and so flavorful in the inside. They are easy to make too. I usually make a lot of them ( double the recipe) for dinner, leftover for bento the next day, and still have plenty to keep in the freezer. I want to make good use of the amount of oil being used to fry. You can make this into balls or wrap around boil eggs to make good appetizer.



Ok, here is the recipe. Please try these, as you will be hooked.


  • 1 Lb ground pork
  •  2/3 C corn ( I used frozen corn)
  •  2 gloves of garlic, chopped
  •  2 TBS fish sauce
  •  1/2 TBS sugar
  •  a pinch of black pepper
  •  1 egg
  •  2 TBS corn starch
  •  1/4 C chopped cilantro
  •  Oil for deep frying
  •  Sauce to dip ( of your choice- optional)
  • Cucumber to garnish ( optional)
  •  Butter lettuce to wrap the balls ( optional)

Heat oil enough to deep fry. Mix together ground pork, corn, egg, corn starch, seasonings, & cilantro in a big bow. Use a small ice cream scoop to scoop out the meat mixture and drop into the hot oil, so you don’t have to get your hand dirty.


Use a slotted flat spoon to skim off the burned bits on the oil surface as you fry. Fry until golden brown and transfer them on paper towel to remove excess oil.

Serve with cucumber and lettuce, and chili dipping sauce if you have.
